In 2011, four communities of municipalities grouped together in the “Syndicat mixte du Vivarais méridional (SMVM)”, obtained the “Pays d’Art et d’Histoire” label issued by the Ministry of Culture. This highly prized label is awarded on the basis of a rich and varied heritage, but above all, an ambitious project to protect and enhance it.
The South Vivarais is therefore one of the more than 190 communities holding the “Pays d’Art et d’Histoire” Label. The only one in Ardèche to have this label, the Southern Vivarais Country of Art and History has joined the twenty or so other communities in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes that have already been distinguished.
